From 2006 to 2023, Global Grassroots supported nearly 1,000 African change agents with a unique combination of mindfulness, trauma-healing, and social entrepreneurship training that we call Conscious Social Change.
As of October 2023, we have sunset our direct operations and are thrilled to announce a new role as fiscal sponsor to emerging ventures such as Umurage Growth, led by former staff members in Rwanda.
Women and girls in post-conflict and underserved communities of East Africa will have the capacity and resources to bring their own social change ideas to fruition as sustainable, impactful and mindful organizations; and, Conscious Social Change will represent a new movement for collaborative, inner-driven change, worldwide.
Our Academy of Conscious Change offers a combination of intensive training with hands-on opportunities to apply mindful leadership skills while implementing a self-designed social purpose venture.
Mindful Leadership Training
During a two week residential training, change agents are invited to explore an array of personal development practices designed to support inner exploration and leadership growth.
Trauma Awareness & Healing
As emerging leaders in post-conflict areas, participants gain a deeper understanding of trauma’s impact on the nervous system and new tools, such as Breath-Body-Mind™ for processing difficult experiences and emotions.
Social Venture Support
With a small seed grant and hands-on coaching from Global Grassroots’ staff, participants design, implement, and evaluate their own social purpose ventures in their communities.
