Dear Friends,
As Global Grassroots’ phases out its operations in East Africa, we are excited to announce the launching of Umurage Growth, Rwandan not-for-profit organization with a mission of empowering individuals, particularly grassroots-level women and young women, in self-discovery, personal growth, and positive action. The organization was founded to create a society where women and young women are empowered to be change agents for positive change in their communities.
Umurage means “legacy” in Kinyarwanda. It refers to our desire to build on the foundation of Global Grassroots and Conscious Social Change in East Africa.
We believe that It is important to work towards the greater good and increase individual awareness in order to create positive social change. The women who are most vulnerable in our society often have a deep commitment to the well-being of their communities, but they require more support to fully realize their potential. With the right resources, these women can play a key role in driving societal transformation. This includes mindfulness practices, social venture skills, independent management of social issues, financial services, human resources, information networks, and regular participation in monitoring and evaluation. By empowering these women, we can create a better world for everyone.
Finally, empowering initiatives help individuals recognize their worth, voice their concerns, and drive positive change in their community, leading to healing.
